“Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something.” – Unknown

My godfather, 'Uncle' Phil, is an amazingly strong, kind-hearted, and unselfish man – a person I have admired since I was a child. Unfortunately, life threw him a curveball a few years back, and he began to suffer from the devastating effects of Lyme Disease. For years, however, his illness went undiagnosed as doctors struggled to figure out what was wreaking havoc on his body.

He was finally diagnosed last year, at which time he began traveling from his home in Lansing, Michigan to northwest Ohio to receive hyperbaric oxygen treatments. These treatments have allowed him to enjoy many things that used to be too taxing on his body: biking with his 8-year-old son Michael, coaching a 5th-6th grade basketball team (and a pee-wee team!), and taking trips with his wife Lisa and son Michael to see family across the country.

Even though his health and his day-to-day life have improved immensely, Uncle Phil's health insurance does not cover these life-changing oxygen treatments or some of his medications because they are considered to be 'Alternative Medicine.' Due to this lack of medical coverage, when the starting gun goes off on May 17th I would like to be jogging for a cause – helping to relieve some of Uncle Phil's financial burden so that he can continue to receive these helpful treatments and medications!
